Bill’s practice is primarily in business litigation and other dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. While he has extensive experience representing banks, other financial service companies, and court-appointed receivers in both federal and state courts, Bill has also represented a wide array of businesses and individuals in contract cases, disputes over control of closely held companies, and commercial landlord-tenant lawsuits, to name just a few areas. He has a winning record of briefing and arguing in the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Because Bill worked as an in-house corporate attorney for ten years, he is especially attuned to viewing a case from the client’s perspective.
Bill and his family are active in supporting a number of school and other community activities in Portland, including Artists Repertory Theatre, where Bill served seven years as a board member and where he remains active as a board chair emeritus. He is currently on the board of the Irvington Club, where he enjoys playing tennis.
Bill is AV-rated by MartindaleHubbell. He has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer in the annual publication of Super Lawyers for 2009.
